News update!

Hey there everyone!

I've been playing around with some new techniques these past few months, and I've got to tell you.... I LOVE THIS!!

One of the newest techniques I've been working on is called the Satin shimmers. It gives the glass a kind of satin/silk fabric-look, and it's just awesome!
Mind you, the peices you see in the pictures here are just test objects and have not been put much effort into making them look good. (sorry for the poor quality on the photo's)

This last picture was a last minute peice I made to enter a fusing contest. I called it 'the lonely shadowbird'... The name was given as a poor attempt to save the peice as bird ended up transperant (which was not really intended). But I didn't have time to make a new peice for the contest heh. I doubt I'll win anything with that failiure haha! Oh well, live and learn from the mistakes :)

I've also been working with some gold lately, and it's soo awesome! I'm gonna do more of those soon, and I hope you love it as much as I do! Here's to giving you a sneak peak:

One last thing. I'm currently trying to raise money to buy me a new kiln (fusing oven) so that I can make more glass pendants and bigger projects like plates, wall panels, glass art and so on. My goal is  5115USD, I would be very greatful for any donations, or any purchase you do of my glass. It will all go to buying a new kiln so I can continue to make great new glass things!
If you want to donate (any amount helps!), you can click on the Donate button on right side on this blog. Or if you wish to support me by buying some of my glass jewellery, you can just follow this link to my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/ViaMiaGlassDesign

Thank you all!

Ordered new toys for me to play with

Today I recieved a package I've been waiting for about a week now :D Today I got loads of glass paint, some pendant settings and a mold <3 I can't wait to try them out!

Also I ordered a new disc lapgrinder about two days ago. For those who have already seen an older post I did on DeviantArt, I already had a lapgrinder. The problem was that I recieved the wrong one, and had to return that one. But now I've ordered a new one, and hopefully they will send the correct one this time.

Other then that, I'm also gonna order a different type of grinder today :D I can't wait to get it!
I'm really looking forward to start using my new toys! My pendants and plates will look so great when I use the grinders to finish them :)

Here's a few more new pendants for you to enjoy:

After a long blog-break, I'm back!

Hi there!

I'm back again to blogging. Wondering what I've been doing all this time?
Well, a lot actually.

I won't go through it all, but a short list, sure

- Learning new techniques to fusing
- Got a part time job
- Started working on my drivers license
- Learning more fusing techniques
- Been in the hospital
- Vacation
- And more fusing

So there you have it :) I've been busy! And I'm keeping it short today.
But for now, I would like to share some of the new things I've made, tried and tested.
And I promise to keep updating here more often.
So here's a few things I would like to share with you:

(All of these pendants are for sale!)
One last thing:

I've opened up a store on Ebay, so you should go check my things out there :)
If you want custom made pendants/earrings/rings, let me know here, on DeviantArt, Facebook, Etsy
or Ebay :)

New Kiln shelf

I've just ordered a new kiln shelf for my kiln :D
I really needed a new one as the old one I had was broken in two pieces. So hopefully it'll arrive tomorrow :) When I get it, I will have enough space on it to make some dish plates :D I'm sooooo looking forward to that!
Lately I've not really made any new pieces, but I've been experimenting a lot with the glass I have... Also, I've got a new circle cutter so I can start making round pendants :) Though I have noticed I need to practise how to cut the circle out of the glass once I've made the scoreline in the glass... ehehehe heh...
Next on my list though is getting some more glass (yes, I know I have a lot of glass already, but not the kind I want) I've got so much transperant art glass, but I would love to have more dichroic glass and iridescent glass. But I won't order anything right now. I'm soon going on a vacation to Tioman/Malaysia, so I won't be ordering anything before that. But I will hopefully soon after I get home!
But for now I'm gonna finish up a few orders and also do another experiment with a mirror!
Will update later on how that went!
Until next time, have a good night!

Slumping and a new project

So here we are yet again. Today I got my slumping forms as I mentioned in an earlier post. I got one square plate form (20x20cm) and a candle holder slump form. Sadly I need a new kiln shelf before I can make the plates, as it's broken in half and can't fit the whole 20x20cm on one of the halfs... But it's big enough to make the candle holders :D (I think...... and hope heh) Anyway! Other then getting my slump forms, I've started on a new project. I'm now working on making my logo as a glasspendant! I will most likely not sell that one as I can use it for commercial hehehe! It's not finished yet as you can see on the picture below, but it's comming along very nicely. I have no idea what I can do about the letters in my logo yet though... Since I've started to make it before I've ordered decals for it, it might not be the correct size.. So I will most likely leave it without the letters. I could always try using glass to form the letters, but I rather not risk it.
This picture is taken before I started to use my grinder on the white glass. You can see how uneven the line and edges are.

Picture taken after first round with the grinder. It's now a bit smoother in the lines and edges, but think I will go over one one time still. Though the fusing will smooth it out even more. *ponders on what to do*

Ooouh!

I'm so excited! I just got a phonecall today about some slump forms for plates and candle holders that I will be able to buy for a very reasonable price :D So you might soon start to see some nice glass plates and candle holders soon! :D I will most likely recieve them on thuesday. Also, just for fun and experimenting... I fired some marbles I had lying around, some of them actually turned out quite nicely (and flat), might give it a try to fire them onto a pendant. *ponders*

The experiments!

Here's the experiments I promised yesterday:
On this one I wanted to try out making a kinda flower-ish pattern with some scraps. I'm fairly happy with how it turned out, but I think I need to add either a deeper green in between or black between the green scraps to make it more visible when you see the pendant on a greater distance.

On this experiment I've actually used a glass pebble that is usually used in fishbowls or as decorations. And I have to say, I'm very happy with how this turned out.

Now this one I'm very very happy with. I was suppose to make this as an unfinished project as I wanted to put a decal on it. But this one I'm actually gonna keep it like it is. It kinda looks like a tree don't it?

This one is not really an experiment. This is just nice. Simple, but still nice.

This one is not finished. This is however kinda an experiment as this is actually two pendants fused together (two broken pendants). I wanted to see how it would look if I added them together, and the colors ain't that bad really. This still needs to be grinded down a bit though. But I kinda like it just as it is. Uneven and abstract :)

So, myes. Those were a few of the new experiments. I'm looking forward to keep testing some other things too :)
